Beyond the Crisis: A Humanitarian Move Toward Long-Term Impact

In the context of one of the world’s most complex humanitarian crises, Khair Ummah Association conducted a joint field visit to northwest Syria in cooperation with Farmamundi. The visit included several affected areas, most notably Jandairis, with the aim of directly assessing health and humanitarian needs on the ground.

This visit comes amid extremely challenging humanitarian conditions, as local communities continue to face the effects of years of conflict, in addition to the aftermath of the 2023 Türkiye–Syria earthquake and repeated waves of displacement. Estimates indicate that women and children make up the majority of the displaced population, while camps suffer from increasing health challenges and a severe shortage of basic services.

The visit went beyond field assessment, representing a key step toward developing more effective and sustainable programs for the 2026–2028 period, with a particular focus on healthcare, psychosocial support, disability services, and rehabilitation.

As part of these efforts, the association announced the opening of a “Safe Space” center in Al-Mohammadiya Camp 2, in partnership with Farmamundi. The center provides a supportive environment offering protection and psychosocial care for the most vulnerable groups.

The center serves more than 550 women and children through specialized programs aimed at enhancing their sense of safety, restoring psychological well-being, and supporting social integration in an environment lacking the most basic elements of stability.

This initiative reflects an effective model of humanitarian partnerships built on trust and complementarity, contributing to transforming urgent needs into tangible, sustainable interventions that uphold human dignity and respond to the realities of the humanitarian situation in the region.
