Amid the escalating humanitarian challenges faced by many regions in Chad—foremost among them the shortage of clean water sources—there is an urgent need for sustainable interventions that ensure communities have access to one of life’s most essential necessities.
Within this context, Khair Ummah Association implemented a water supply project in 2021 across several of the most vulnerable areas. The project aimed to provide safe and clean water sources for families who struggle to access water, along with the daily health and living burdens that result from this hardship.
This initiative comes in response to the realities on the ground, where local communities—especially women and children—are forced to travel long distances under harsh conditions to obtain water. These challenges significantly impact their health, daily lives, and limit opportunities for stability and development.
The project has helped alleviate this suffering by providing nearby and safe water sources, directly improving health conditions and reducing the spread of waterborne diseases. It has also contributed to greater community stability while saving beneficiaries considerable time and effort.
The association emphasized that the water supply project is part of its commitment to implementing sustainable humanitarian interventions that focus on meeting basic needs and enhancing human dignity. It noted that access to clean water is a cornerstone in building healthier and more stable communities.
Khair Ummah Association also renewed its call to donors and supporters to contribute to water projects, given their profound and lasting impact on improving the lives of individuals and communities.
